    The central part features a segment of the Isle of Man's coat of arms – a triskelion. It consists of three armored legs bent at the knee, running to the left, emerging from a single center and equally spaced from each other. Along the upper edge of the coin is the island's motto 'QUOCUNQUE IECERIS STABIT' (Whichever way you throw it, it will stand). The coin's border consists of denticles.
  • Obverse
    The center bears the left-facing profile of Alexandrina Victoria, Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. In the truncation are the Latin letters 'WW' – the artist's mark of William Wyon. Around the circumference along the rim, from left, top to right, is the Latin inscription 'VICTORIA DEI GRATIA' (Victoria by the Grace of God), with the year of issue '1839' below. The border around the circumference consists of denticles.
