In the central part, a right-facing portrait of the Polish poet and playwright Juliusz Słowacki. Below, the person's name in two lines in Polish: «JULIUSZ SŁOWACKI», and the years of his life «1809-1849». To the left of the dates, the designer's mark of Ewa Tyc-Karpińska: «E».
Obverse
Along the rim, inscriptions in Polish: at the top, the country name «RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA» (REPUBLIC OF POLAND); at the bottom, the inscription «ZŁ 2 ZŁ» (two zlotych) flanked by five dots on each side. In the central part is the Polish state eagle, dividing the mint year «1999» into two parts: left - «19», right - «99». Under the eagle's right claw is the mint mark of the Polish Mint.
