    The central part features a right-facing portrait of Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, with a horse in front of her. Below the image, the horizontal English text 'LOVE OF HORSES'. Around the circumference along the rim are English inscriptions: at the top - 'THE LIFE AND TIMES OF THE QUEEN MOTHER', flanked on both sides by a bow, and at the bottom in two lines - '1 CROWN'.

    Centered is the right-facing profile of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom wearing a crown. In the truncation of the portrait are the initials of the British sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley - 'IRB'. Around the edge of the coin are English inscriptions: on the left the monarch's name 'ELIZABETH II', on the right the name of the British Crown Dependency 'ISLE OF MAN' and the year of minting '2002'. At the beginning of each inscription is the heraldic symbol of the Isle of Man – a triskelion. Along the rim are decorative raised denticles.
