    In the central part, within the inner field, is the coat of arms of the Finnish region – Finnish Karelia. It features a crowned heraldic shield depicting: two arms, the left clad in plate armor wielding an upright straight sword, the right – in chainmail wielding a sabre, with a crown above them. To the left of the shield is the numeral 5, to the right the Latin letter 'T' – the designer's mark of Nora Tapper and a heraldic lion in a circle – the mintmark of the Mint of Finland. Along the upper edge arc is the year of issue '2013'. Below is the inscription in Finnish 'EURO' (Euro).

    In the center is depicted a hydroelectric power station spillway with falling water. Above the waves is the Latin letter 'N' – the designer's mark of Petri Neuvonen. Above and below is the country name 'Finland' in two languages: Finnish 'SUOMI' (above) and Swedish 'FINLAND' (below along the rim).
