    At the top, a three-line inscription in Ottoman Turkish: "ضرب في مصر" - "STRUCK IN EGYPT". At the bottom - one fortieth of a qirsh: "ربع من عشر القرش". Below that is the year of Abdul Hamid II's accession to the throne according to the Islamic calendar: "١٢٩٣" - 1293 AH or 1876 AD.
  • Obverse
    In the central part - the tughra of the Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid II. To its right is a depiction of a rose flower. At the bottom, in two lines, the 12th year of the Sultan's reign is indicated in Ottoman Turkish: "١٢سنه".
