    At the top, along the rim, the English text 'EAST AFRICA'. Below, the year of issue '1939', flanked on both sides by raised diamond-shaped elements. In the central part above the hole, the numeral 10, with crossed elephant tusks on the sides.
  • Obverse
    Around the edge of the coin are decorative raised denticles. To the left and right along the rim are English inscriptions: 'GEORGIVS VI' and 'REX ET IND: IMP:', separated at the top by the British crown, translating to 'George VI King and Emperor of India'. In the central part below the round hole, the inscription 'TEN CENTS'. Below that, the Birmingham mint mark 'KN'.
