Along the left arc of the coin's edge is the country name in English, framed by dots: 'MAURITIUS'. On the right is an inscription, separated by dots: 'HALF RUPEE'. The coin's edge features a toothed (reeded) relief.

    In the central part is the right-facing profile of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom. To the left, below, and to the right along the rim is text in English: 'QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND'. The coin's edge features relief elements in the form of teeth (denticles).
