To the right is the Olympic symbol – five interlocking rings in the shape of the Latin letter 'W', above it the name of the host city and the year of the Games. Along the left edge of the coin is the English text '5 DOLLARS'.

    In the center is the right-facing profile of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain wearing a crown. Along the rim in English: on the left the monarch's name - 'ELIZABETH II', on the right the name of the independent state and the year of minting - 'AUSTRALIA 2000'. In the truncation of the monarch's neck are the initials of the British sculptor Raphael David Maklouf - 'RDM'.
