Reverse
The large numeral 50 at the top, with the English inscription 'CENTS' along the bottom rim, translating to 'fifty cents'. The central part features the coat of arms of Eswatini: on the heraldic shield is depicted a traditional oval Nguni shield, with three spears below it. The large shield is crowned at the top by a wreath with two feathers, held on the left by a lion and on the right by an elephant. Below, on a motto ribbon, is the inscription in Swati 'Siyinqaba', translating to 'We are the fortress'. Beneath the ribbon is the mint year '2001'.
Obverse
Along the upper arc of the coin's edge is the country name Eswatini in English: 'SWAZILAND'. The central part features a portrait of King Mswati III, facing right in half-profile.
