In the central part, within a circle, the numeral 5. Around it are the nine coats of arms of the Federal States of Austria: Vienna, Burgenland, Upper Austria, Vorarlberg, Carinthia, Styria, Lower Austria, Salzburg, Tyrol. The coats of arms are positioned with their base towards the center, forming a sunburst pattern. Along the edge of the coin are inscriptions in German: on the left, top, and right the country name 'REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH' (Republic of Austria), at the bottom the inscription 'EURO', flanked on both sides by a dot.
Obverse
Depicts the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra concert: on the right side, against the background of an organ, musicians playing instruments are shown facing left; on the left – a silhouette of the conductor facing right, leading the orchestra. On the left, on the conductor's silhouette, a vertical two-line inscription in German 'Neujahrs-konzert' (New Year's Concert); on the right, the year of issue '2016'.
