    In the central part, within a circle, the numeral 5. Around it are the nine coats of arms of the Federal States of Austria: Vienna, Burgenland, Upper Austria, Vorarlberg, Carinthia, Styria, Lower Austria, Salzburg, Tyrol. The coats of arms are positioned with their base towards the center, forming a sunburst pattern. Along the edge of the coin are inscriptions in German: on the left, top, and right the country name 'REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH' (Republic of Austria), at the bottom the inscription 'EURO', flanked on both sides by a dot.
