Behind the portrait are the Latin letters 'PM' – the mintmark of the Pobjoy Mint, Surrey, United Kingdom. Around the circumference is a wide rim bearing inscriptions in English: on the left, the monarch's name 'ELIZABETH II'; on the right, the name of the British Crown Dependency 'ISLE OF MAN' and the year of issue '1987'.
