Reverse In the upper part of the field is a three-line inscription in German: '1/2 KREUZER'. In the lower part is the year of issue '1851', above it a geometric pattern: a central dot with radiating lines. Below, near the rim, is the Latin letter 'A'. The edge of the coin is decorated with raised dots.
Obverse In the center is the coat of arms of the Austrian Empire: a double-headed eagle with outstretched wings, its heads crowned, above them the Crown of Saint Stephen. In its right talon are a sword and scepter, in its left an orb. On its chest is the familial heraldic shield of Habsburg-Lorraine, encircled by a chain. Along the upper rim is the German inscription 'K∙K∙OESTERREICHISCHE SCHEIDEMÜNZE∙' (Imperial-Royal Austrian Subsidiary Coin). The edge of the coin is decorated with dots.
