The central part features the left-facing profile of the Head of State Malietoa Tanumafili II. To the left, top, and right is the inscription 'MALIETOA TANUMAFILI II SAMOA I SISIFO' (Malietoa Tanumafili II Western Samoa). Below the neck truncation are the medallist's initials: 'HP' - Thomas Humphrey Paget. At the bottom, the mint year '2000' is flanked by five-pointed stars.
