The central part features the denomination 5. Above the numeral is the crown of the Russian Empire. Below is the name of the monetary unit "KOPIEK". Below this inscription is a line, under which is the abbreviation "S.P.B." (Saint Petersburg Mint). Along the left edge of the coin is a laurel branch, and along the right edge is an oak branch. The branches are tied together at the base with a ribbon. The edge of the coin is decorated with raised denticles.
  • Obverse
The central part depicts the State Emblem of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle with wings spread and lowered. On the eagle's chest is the coat of arms of Moscow — a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). The heraldic shield is crowned by the Imperial crown above the eagle's heads. The eagle holds thunderbolts and a torch in its right talon and a laurel wreath in its left, intertwined with the ribbon of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called. Below the ribbon are the letters: left "N", right "G". These are the initials of mintmaster Nikolai Grachev. Below the initials is the year of mintage "1828 GODA.". The rim is decorated with short denticles.
