    In the upper part, along the edge of the coin, is the Spanish text: 'POPAYAN' - indicating the Popayán mint. In the central part, the Spanish inscription: 'MEDIO REAL' - half real, surrounded by an oak wreath tied with ribbons. On both sides are small flower sprigs. Along the lower edge is the silver fineness: 'LEI 0,900'. The rim is decorated with decorative elements in the form of dentils.
  • Obverse
    To the right, top, and left is the Spanish inscription: 'NUEVA GRANADINA', meaning 'New Granada'. In the central part is a stylized depiction of an open pomegranate fruit on a branch. On either side, crossing at the top, are cornucopias. In the lower part, along the edge of the coin, is the date 1862, separated from the inscription by dots. The rim is decorated with a decorative element in the form of dentils.
