    In the central part, within the inner field, is the coat of arms of the Finnish region of Åland. It features a crowned heraldic shield with a stag facing left. To the left of the shield is the numeral 5, to the right is the Latin letter 'T' - the designer's mark for Nora Tapper, and a heraldic lion within a circle - the mintmark of the Mint of Finland. Along the upper edge arc is the year of issue '2011'. Below is the inscription in Finnish 'EURO' (Euro).

    In the center, a white-tailed eagle is depicted facing left, perched on a cliff. Along the upper edge arc of the coin, the country name 'Finland' is repeated twice: first in Finnish 'SUOMI', followed by Swedish 'FINLAND'. To the left near the rim is the designer's mark for Erkki Vainio - the Latin letter 'e'.
