    In the central part of the reverse is a relief image of the first experimental model of the Diesel engine, offset left of center. To the left is a four-line inscription 'THE DIESEL ENGINE 1893'. To the right is a cameo with a left-facing portrait of Rudolf Diesel, below which is his name in English 'RUDOLF DIESEL' and his lifespan '1858-1913'. Along the edge of the coin are English inscriptions: at the top 'INVENTIONS OF THE MODERN WORLD', and at the bottom in two lines '1 CROWN'.

    Centered is the right-facing profile of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain wearing a crown. In the truncation of the portrait are the initials of the British sculptor Raphael David Maklouf - 'RDM', below the truncation are the Latin letters 'PM' - the mintmark of the Pobjoy Mint, Surrey, United Kingdom. Around the circumference along the rim are English inscriptions: on the left the monarch's name 'ELIZABETH II', on the right the name of the British Crown Dependency 'ISLE OF MAN' and the year of issue '1995'. The rim is decorated with raised denticles.
