    Along the upper edge of the coin, the English text: 'OLYMPIC GAMES'. Below, the year of issue '1976'. In the central part is a weightlifter with a barbell. To the left above the barbell is the Olympic flame, below it are 4 five-pointed stars. To the right, at the level of the leg, is the engraver's privy mark, the letters 'JB' (George James Berry).

    Along the edge of the coin in the upper part, the country name in English 'SAMOA I SISIFO'. In the central part is the national coat of arms of Samoa: a heraldic shield against a background of radial patterns in the form of concentric circles, above it a Latin cross with rays. On the shield is a stylized depiction of the Southern Cross constellation in the form of five stars, ocean waves, and a coconut palm. On the sides of the circles are olive branches, crossed at the base. On the motto ribbon, an inscription in Samoan 'FA'AVAE I LE ATUA SAMOA', translated as 'God is the foundation of Samoa'.
