    Along the upper rim, the country name in English: NEW ZEALAND. Below, the year of issue '1951'. In the central part of the reverse is a relief depiction of crossed patu onewa (stone patu) clubs, traditional weapons of Maori warriors, and the inscription '3d' for '3 pence'. Beneath the clubs are the letters 'KG', the mark of engraver George Edward Kruger-Gray.

    Along the rim of the coin, the English text 'KING GEORGE THE SIXTH'. In the central part is a left-facing profile portrait of the monarch. Below the neck truncation are the letters 'HP', the initials of engraver Thomas Humphrey Paget.
