    In the central part, a large numeral 2 on the left, with the English inscription 'EURO' to its right, translating to '2 Euro'. Below the letter 'O' is the engraver's mark of Luc Luycx 'LL'. The inscription is placed over the outlines of a map of Europe. Six vertical parallel lines extend upwards and downwards from it, ending in 12 stars.
  • Obverse
    Along the rim on the outer ring, 12 stars of the European Union are evenly distributed. Along the edge of the inner disc are inscriptions: at the top and right in 2 lines in English: 'XIII SPECIAL OLYMPICS W.S.G. ATHENS 2011', translating to 'XIII Special Olympics World Summer Games. Athens 2011'; at the bottom and right in Greek, the name of the issuing state HELLENIC REPUBLIC 'ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ'. The inscriptions are separated by the Athens Mint mark (acanthus leaf). In the central part is the emblem of the Games: a stylized radiant sun surrounded by a spiral transforming into an olive branch.
