Reverse Around the edge of the coin are decorative raised dots. At the top is the inscription '20 SENITI', meaning 'twenty seniti'. At the bottom is the country name 'TONGA' in English. In the central part is the coat of arms of Tonga: a heraldic shield with a crown surrounded by a wreath, from which flags of the kingdom with crosses extend to the sides. In the center of the shield is a raised six-pointed star with an incused cross. On the shield, in the upper left quadrant are three stars, in the right is a crown, in the lower right are three crossed swords, and in the left is a dove with an olive branch. At the bottom of the coat of arms is a motto on a ribbon 'Ko e ʻOtua mo Tonga ko hoku Tofiʻa', which translates from Tongan as 'God and Tonga are my inheritance'.
Obverse Around the edge of the coin is a decorative raised pattern of crowns. Along the upper arc of the coin's edge is the English text 'CORONATION 4th JULI 1967', meaning 'Coronation July 4th, 1967'. At the bottom is the name of the King of Tonga, Taufa'ahau Tupou IV, in English: 'TAUFA'AHAU TUPOU IV'. In the central part is a portrait of the king in right-facing profile.
