In the central part, a Blue Jay, a songbird of the corvid family, is depicted from the back, sitting on a branch with its head turned to the right. To the left of the image is the mint year '2015' horizontally, to the right are the Latin letters 'ES' - the artist's mark for Edward Spera. Along the edge of the coin are inscriptions in English: at the top the country name 'CANADA', at the bottom the inscription 'DOLLAR'.
Obverse
In the center is the right-facing profile of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain. In the truncation of the portrait are the Latin letters 'SB' - the artist's mark for Susanna Blunt. To the right and left of the portrait, split into two parts, is the Latin inscription: on the right - 'ELIZABETH II', on the left - 'D∙ G∙ REGINA' (Elizabeth II, by the Grace of God, Queen). Around the circumference along the rim are decorative raised dots.
