    Along the upper edge of the coin, from left to right, is the name Dwight David Eisenhower in English, with the inscription "1890-1990" below: 1890 is the year of the military leader's birth, 1990 is the year of his 100th anniversary. The central part of the reverse features a relief portrait of General Eisenhower giving a military salute. To his left is a two-line inscription "FIVE / DOLLARS".

    The central part features the coat of arms of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, a round disc with an angel framed by two interlocking chains. Along the outer edge of the disc, the state name in English "REPUBLIC OF THE MARSHALL ISLANDS" is at the top, and the motto in Marshallese "JEPILPILIN KE EJUKAAN" (Achievement through Common Effort) is at the bottom. Two rays emanate upward from the angel's head, between which is a twenty-four-pointed star. Above the angel's wings: a fishing net on the right, a shell tool on the left. Below the wings: a canoe on the right, coconut palms on the left. Below the angel is an image of a traditional Marshallese navigational chart in perspective, with the inscription on a ribbon "Seal" below it. Under the outer chain, to the left of the disc, is the $5 sign, and to the right is the year of issue "1991".
