In the central part, a pig facing left. Below it is the Chinese character for 'Pig'. Along the upper edge of the coin from left to right are listed the years: 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, and 2007, separated by triangles. Along the lower edge is the inscription: '$5' - five dollars.
Obverse
In the central part, an image of the seated Goddess of Liberty with a sheaf of ears in her right hand. To her left, a rising sun; to her right, three flags with five-pointed stars; behind the flags, a globe of the Earth with the English inscription: 'LIBERTY'. Below, at the feet of the goddess in a shaped frame, the mint year 1997. Below the image of Liberty is a three-line inscription in English: 'LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE', which translates to: 'Love of liberty brought us here'. In the upper part, along the edge of the coin, the name of the country, the Republic of Liberia, in English: 'REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA'. The edge of the coin features decorative elements in the form of dentils.
