    In the center, a square with a field of horizontal lines containing a latent image visible when the angle is changed: the number '47'. On the sides of the square are kanji characters for 'local government': top - '地', left - '治', right - '方', bottom - '自'. Around the edge are decorative dot patterns, along with inscriptions in English and Japanese: 'JAPAN 47 PREFECTURES COIN PROGRAM 500 YEN 平成 25 年' (Japan 47 Prefectures Coin Program, 500 Yen, Heisei 25).
