The central part features the denomination 5. Above the numeral is the crown of the Russian Empire. Below is the name of the monetary unit "KOPIEK". Below this inscription is a line, under which is the abbreviation "S.P.B." (Saint Petersburg Mint). Along the left edge of the coin is a laurel branch, and along the right edge, an oak branch. The stems are tied together with a ribbon at the base. The edge of the coin is decorated with raised denticles.
  • Obverse
The central part depicts the State Emblem of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle with wings spread and lowered. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow — a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). The heraldic shield, above the eagle's heads, is crowned by the imperial crown. The eagle holds thunderbolts and a torch in its right talon and a laurel wreath in its left, both entwined with the ribbon of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called. Below the ribbon are the letters: "N" on the left, "G" on the right. These are the initials of Mintmaster Nikolai Grachev. Below the initials is the year of mintage "1827 GODA." The rim is decorated with short denticles.
