Reverse
In the central part is a hole, surrounded by a six-pointed Star of David. Along the upper edge of the coin from left to right is the colony's name in English: BRITISH WEST AFRICA. Below is the year of issue, 1927. The coin's rim features decorative elements in the form of denticles.
Obverse
In the upper part, along the edge of the coin, is the British Imperial Crown, with the Latin inscription to the left and right: "GEORGIVS V REX ET IND: IMP:" - "GEORGE V, KING AND EMPEROR OF INDIA". The central part contains a hole. Around it is the inscription for one penny: in English "ONE PENNY" on the left, top, and right, and in Arabic "وَاحِد بَنِّي" at the bottom. The coin's rim features decorative raised denticles.
