Along the upper and lower edges of the coin are inscriptions in English: at the top, "JAMAICA", and at the bottom, "ONE PENNY". The central part features the coat of arms of Jamaica. To the left and right of it are digits that together form the year of issue: 1963.
Obverse
Along the left, bottom, and right rim is the English text: "QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND". The central part features a right-facing profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain. The circumference is adorned with decorative raised denticles.
