AURÉLIO' – the signature of the artist José Aurélio. In the central upper part, the lesser coat of arms of Portugal is depicted, with the issuing country's name in English, 'PORTUGAL', around the edge of the heraldic shield. Below the coat of arms is a stylized depiction of the 2009 Games emblem: an athlete with a flowing ribbon celebrating victory, and the year of the competition '2009'.
