    Around the rim, the English inscription: BRITISH WEST AFRICA. Below, the year of issue '1943', flanked on both sides by raised dot elements. In the central part of the reverse is a raised design of a hexagram.

    Around the edge of the coin are decorative raised dots. On the left side, along the rim, the Latin inscription 'GEORGIVS VI', on the right 'REX ET IND: IMP:', translating to 'George VI King and Emperor of India'. In the central upper part is a crown, the symbol of British rulers. Below it, encircling the hole, the inscription 'ONE TENTH OF A PENNY'. At the bottom, the denomination in Arabic: 'عُشر بنس واحد'.
