    The date of issue '1967' is inscribed along the upper edge. In the center, the numeral 2 is within a wreath formed by two branches crossed at the base. The numeral divides the inscription 'SENE' into two parts, forming '2 sene'. Above the inscription are three five-pointed stars, and below it are 2 stars, one of which is smaller than the others.

    Along the upper edge of the coin is the text 'MALIETOA TANUMAFILI II CAMOA I SISIFO' – Malietoa Tanumafili II, the paramount chief of the Independent State of Samoa and Sisifo. In the center is the left-facing portrait of Malietoa Tanumafili II. Below the neck truncation is the mintmark 'HP'.
