    A six-pointed star is inscribed around the central hole. The legend "BRITISH WEST AFRICA ∙1914∙", broken into six segments by the star's rays, follows the outer arc of the coin. The edge is decorated with ornamental teeth.

    Central hole surrounded by the legend "ONE TENTH OF A PENNY" above in English and "عُشِرالپَنّي" below in Arabic. Around the rim, the Latin inscription "GEORGIVS V REX ET IND: IMP:" (George V King and Emperor of India) is split into two parts, each above a stylized ornament. The British Imperial Crown is at the top. The mint mark "H" (for the Heaton Mint, Birmingham) is below the hole. The coin's edge features decorative raised teeth.
