    In the central part, within a raised circle, is the coat of arms (symbol) of the Australian Scouting movement: a heraldic fleur-de-lis superimposed with the constellation 'Southern Cross', with scout figures on either side of the lily. To the right at the base of the emblem are the artist's initials C. Goodall – 'CG'. Along the upper edge of the coin is the inscription in English: 'YEAR OF THE SCOUT', and along the lower edge – '50 CENTS'.
  • Obverse
    In the central part is the right-facing profile of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom wearing a crown. Below the neck truncation is the sculptor's initials 'IRB' - Ian Rank-Broadley. On the left side, along the edge of the coin, is the Queen's name in English 'ELIZABETH II', and on the right side the name of the independent state and the year of minting - 'AUSTRALIA 2008'.
