    In the central part there is a hole, around which is a six-pointed Star of David. Along the upper edge of the coin from left to right is the English text: BRITISH WEST AFRICA. Below is the year of issue, 1916. The edge of the coin features decorative elements in the form of denticles.

    In the central part there is a hole. Below it is the mint mark, Heaton: "H". In the upper part along the edge of the coin is the image of the British Imperial Crown, to the left and right is the inscription: "GEORGIVS V REX ET IND: IMP:", which translates from Latin as: "GEORGE V, KING AND EMPEROR OF INDIA". Around the hole is the inscription for one penny: in English "ONE PENNY" to the left, above, and right, and in Arabic "وَاحِد بَنِّي" below. The edge of the coin features decorative raised denticles.
