    Along the edge of the coin on the left and right are branches of holly. In the central part is a large number 20. Below, along the circumference, is the inscription in Spanish 'CENTAVOS', meaning '20 centavos'.
  • Obverse
    Around the edge of the coin are decorative raised denticles. On the left, top, and right is the country name in Spanish 'REPUBLICA DEL ECUADOR' - Republic of Ecuador. At the bottom is the year of minting '1966'. In the central part is the national coat of arms. On the oval shield is a depiction of the Chimborazo volcano, the Guayas River, and a steamship. Above the volcano is a ribbon on which the sun is placed, surrounded by the astrological signs of Aries, Taurus, Gemini, and Cancer. Above the shield is a Condor with outstretched wings. On the sides of the shield are 2 halberds and 2 septums with national flags, separated by laurel and palm branches. The Roman fasces below the shield symbolize the dignity of the republic.
