    In the central part, a parrot is depicted facing right on a leafy branch. Along the edge of the coin are inscriptions in Spanish: at the top - 'FAUNA CUBANA' (Fauna of Cuba), at the bottom the bird's name 'COTORRA'. In the crown, the year of minting '2001', below it a key and under it a five-pointed star.
  • Obverse
    Along the rim are inscriptions in Spanish: at the top the name of the island nation 'REPUBLICA DE CUBA' (Republic of Cuba), at the bottom the inscription '5 PESOS'. In the central part is the country's coat of arms: a heraldic shield under a Phrygian cap, framed by an oak branch on one side and a laurel branch on the other. The shield depicts: at the top a rising sun, a key between two shores, in the left part two ribbons, in the right part a palm tree and mountains.
