    At the top, a three-line inscription in Ottoman Turkish: 'ضرب في مصر' - 'STRUCK IN EGYPT'. Below, the denomination 'one-fortieth qirsh': 'ربع من عشر القرش'. Beneath that is the year of accession of Mehmed V according to the Islamic calendar: '١٣٢٧' - 1327 AH or 1909 AD.
  • Obverse
    In the center is the tughra of the Ottoman Sultan Abdul Hamid II. To its right is a depiction of a rose flower. Below, in two lines, the 3rd regnal year of the sultan is indicated in Ottoman Turkish: '٣سنه'.
