Two olive branches are depicted along the arcs of the left and right edges, crossing at the bottom. Between them is the inscription '50 PESOS' and the year of minting: '2008'. Decorative raised denticles are placed along the rim.
Obverse
In the central part is the right-facing profile of Bernardo O'Higgins, a revolutionary and national hero of Chile. On the left is the mintmark of the Santiago Mint: 'S'. On the right is a two-line inscription in Spanish: 'LIBERTADOR B. O'HIGGINS' - 'The Liberator B. O'Higgins'. Decorative raised denticles are placed along the rim.
