Obverse In the central part is the coat of arms of Chile - a shield held on the left by a South Andean deer (huemul) and on the right by an Andean condor. Below it is the letter 'S', denoting the Santiago Mint. In the upper part, along the arc of the coin's edge, is the country name in Spanish: 'REPUBLICA DE CHILE'. Decorative raised denticles are placed along the rim edges.
