    Along the upper edge of the coin, the Portuguese inscription 'VINTE CENTAVOS', translated as '20 centavos' (equiv. 4 macutas). Below, in two lines, 'IIII MACUTAS' — translated as '4 macutas'. The central part features the lesser coat of arms of Portugal: a heraldic shield on an armillary sphere. On it, five small escutcheons with bezants arranged in a cross. The edges of the large shield have a wide border with seven castles.

    Around the edge of the coin are decorative raised dots. On the left, along the rim, the Portuguese inscription 'REPUBLICA PORTUGUESA', translated as 'Portuguese Republic'. On the right, the year of mintage '1928'. Below, the name of the country Angola 'ANGOLA', highlighted on both sides by two rosettes in the form of dots. The central part features a left-facing profile of Marianne in a wreath of leaves.
