In the central part, within a circle of yellow metal, is an image of the DniproHES dam. In the upper part, along the arc of the coin's edge, is text in Ukrainian: «ДНIПРОГЕС» (translation: «DNEPROGES»). Along the arc of the lower edge is an inscription in Ukrainian: «70 РОКIВ» (translation: «70 years»). The inscriptions are separated by two dots.
Obverse
In the central part, within a circle of yellow metal, is depicted a hydroelectric generator, above it the Coat of Arms of Ukraine, and below it the year of minting 2002. To the right of the generator is the mint mark of the Kyiv Mint. Along the edge of the coin are inscriptions, separated by two dots, in Ukrainian: at the top the country name «УКРАЇНА» (UKRAINE), at the bottom «5 гривень» (5 Hryvnias).
