In the central part of the reverse is a relief image of a Garden Dormouse sitting on a raspberry branch. Along the upper edge is its name in Ukrainian: "SONIA SADOVA" (Garden Dormouse), and below along the rim in Latin: "ELIOMYS QUERCINUS".
Obverse
In the central part is the country name in Ukrainian: "UKRAINA". Above it is the Coat of Arms of Ukraine. Below it, a two-line semicircular inscription: "2 HRYVNI" - 2 (two) hryvnias. In the lower part along the rim is the year of mintage: 1999. The edge of the coin features a decorative wreath element incorporating various representatives of flora and fauna.
