Reverse At the top - the year of minting: "1742". In the central part is a crowned lion holding two globes. To the right, below, and to the left along the rim is the country's motto in Latin: "VTRUNQ·VIRT·PROTEGO". Decorative raised denticles are placed along the edge of the rim.
Obverse In the central part is the country's coat of arms in the form of a shield, surmounted by a crown. To its left is the mintmark of Segovia - an aqueduct, to the right is the numeral: "4". In the lower part, along the curve of the coin's edge, is an inscription in Latin: "PHILIP·V·D·G·HISPAN·REX" - "PHILIP V BY THE GRACE OF GOD KING OF SPAIN".
