Along the upper edge arc, the country name in Arabic: "الجمهورية العربية السورية" - "SYRIAN ARAB REPUBLIC". The edges of the rim feature a decorative raised pattern of rectangles.

In the central part is the country's coat of arms - the 'Hawk of Quraish' with a shield on its chest, holding in its talons a ribbon with an inscription in Arabic: "الجمهورية العربية السورية" - "SYRIAN ARAB REPUBLIC". Below - the year of minting according to the Hijri calendar: "١٤١٢" - "1412" and the Gregorian calendar: "١٩٩١" - "1991". The edges of the rim feature a decorative raised pattern of rectangles.
