    Around the edge of the coin are decorative raised serrations. Along the edge, on the left, the monarch's name in Latin 'GEORGIVS VI'; on the right, the inscription 'REX ET IND: IMP:', translating to 'King Emperor of India'. Above is the British crown. Below, an inscription in Arabic قرش نصف واحد — 'half penny'. In the central part, the English inscription 'ONE HALF PENNY'. Below the hole, the letter 'H' — the mint mark for Heaton, Birmingham.
