Reverse In the central part, a Streamertail Hummingbird is depicted facing left, hovering over two flowers. The bird's beak is inserted into a bud. To the left, above and below along the rim is the English text 'TWENTY FIVE CENTS', with the number 25 below.
Obverse In the center is the coat of arms of Jamaica: a heraldic shield bearing a red cross with five pineapples, above the shield a crocodile on a log, at the base of the arms the motto in English 'Out of many, one people', flanking the shield are supporters: on the left a woman with a basket of fruit, on the right a man with a bow. The edge of the coin is toothed, with inscriptions along it: at the top the English name of the island nation - 'JAMAICA', at the bottom the year of minting '1970'.
