In the central part - the emblem of the "Ba'ath" Party - a map depicting the countries of the Arab League. To the right, top, and left along the rim, an inscription in Arabic: "السابع من نيسان - الذكرى الخمسون لتاسيس حزب البعث العربي الإشتراكي ١٩٤٧-١٩٩٧" - "FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDING OF THE ARAB SOCIALIST BA'ATH PARTY 1947 - 1997". At the bottom - the number 10: "١٠" and ten lira in Arabic: "عشر ليرات".

In the central part, the country's coat of arms is depicted - the "Hawk of Quraish" with a shield on its chest, holding in its talons a ribbon with an inscription in Arabic: "الجمهورية العربية السورية" - "SYRIAN ARAB REPUBLIC". At the bottom - the year of minting according to the Hijri calendar: "١٤١٧" - "1417" and the Gregorian calendar: "١٩٩٧" - "1997".
