The central part features a frontal portrait of the German sculptor and artist Johann Gottfried Schadow. To the left is the sculptural group 'The Princesses', to the right a horse as a symbol of his work on the Brandenburg Gate, and below is a depiction of the sculpture-making process. Along the edge of the coin is an arc of text: at the top, the sculptor's name in German 'JOHANN GOTTFRIED SCHADOW', and at the bottom, his years of life '1764-1850'. Above the sculptural group is the artist's mark of Bodo Broschat 'BB'.
  • Obverse
The center depicts a stylized national symbol of the Federal Republic of Germany: a heraldic eagle facing left with wings spread. To the right, under the eagle's leg, is the Latin letter 'A' - the mint mark of the Berlin Mint. To the left is the metal designation and its fineness 'SILBER 625' (Silver 625). Below are horizontal inscriptions in German: the country name in two lines 'BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND' (FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF GERMANY) and the year of issue '2014', followed by the inscription '10 EURO'. At the top, twelve five-pointed stars are arranged in a semicircle, equidistant from each other.
