In the upper part, following the curve of the coin's edge, is the English text 'CANADA' — the name of the country. Below is the year of issue '1930'. To the left and right are images of maple leaves. In the central part is a two-line inscription 'ONE CENT'. Below is a horizontal rosette.
Obverse
Around the edge of the coin are decorative raised dots. In the left part, following the curve of the coin's edge, are Latin inscriptions ':GEORGIVS V DEI GRA:', 'REX ET IND: IMP:', translated as 'George V by the Grace of God, King and Emperor of India'. In the central part is a left-facing profile portrait of the King.
